The lawyer pastry chef

Melinda

Used to be a lawyer,
now our product developer

I graduated as a lawyer in 2009 from the Faculty of Law of ELTE, and for a while I tried to like the legal career, including the lawyer career, but after the birth of our first child, it became obvious to me that – although I still love law as a science – this the course was not made for me.

So my husband, Miklós, and I started to realize our dream – to turn my hobby into a joint venture. It has been a long road to the current Mendula, where I developed all the products from scratch, and which we both regard as our third child.

I really like experimenting, thinking about new products, and I love the process of how an idea, a starting recipe, becomes a finished product after many experiments, trials, packaging design, and waiting.

The Wine Nuts product line was also a very exciting challenge, as here we gained an insight into a completely new area – the world of wines – and delved a little deeper with the help of Fanni.

I hope that this new product line will become a permanent part of wine tastings.

The economist

Miklós

Makroeconomic analyst
and forecaster

Although experimenting in the kitchen is not his favorite hobby, he likes to produce tangible and edible things, he is the engine of our business (with all its advantages and disadvantages), who created our workshop from scratch, who organizes, negotiates, calculates (after all, he is the economist), develops a website, enthusiastically tastes and (ruthlessly honest) reviews.

Once he becomes seriously interested in something, he buys every book about it, watches YouTube videos, studies, experiments, and practices. This was the case with fruit growing (he planted a serious small orchard in Balaton), fermentation (there is always a “smell” of a few bottles of sauerkraut on the pantry shelf), website development, and many other things.

The wine expert

Fanni

Grape and wine engineer,
WSET 3 wine expert

I obtained my diploma in 2017 at Corvinus University’s viticulture and wine engineering department.

After university, I continued my studies alongside work, completed the basic, intermediate and advanced wine expert courses of the Wine College, and then the owner entrusted me with the management of the wine school and the coordination of wine procurement.

In 2018, I completed the Level 3 international wine expert course of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), the world’s leading wine education institution, and became an instructor at the Wine College. Starting in 2019, I am the youngest wine judge of the prestigious wine competition called Winelovers 100 – The 100 best Hungarian wines.

I want to build the Hungarian wine community as widely as possible, and to support quality wineries so that they can bring joy to as many people as possible. That is why I started my business: Borozz Fannival, which deals with gastro PR, wine marketing and consulting. In 2022, I enrolled in the Weinakademie Österreich WSET4 diploma course, where I can become an international wine academic within a few years.
